SBS Farms Continues Winning Ways with After Five During Week II of Jacksonville Winter Series
January 19, 2010
Jacksonville, Florida --- It was an impressive week for Meredith Lipke Bartolone’s After Five at the second Jacksonville Winter Series horse show from January 12-17, 2010. Starting off the New Year with a new partnership and huge success, After Five captured the First Year Green Hunter championship with Jennifer Alfano, as well as the 3’3” Amateur Owner Hunter championship with owner Lipke Bartolone.
Lipke Bartolone of Buffalo, NY, rides with Susie Schoellkopf and Jennifer Alfano of SBS Farms at the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center in Buffalo, New York. Schoellkopf, who was recently honored with the President’s Distinguished Service award at the 2009 USHJA Evening of Equestrian Awards Dinner, is thrilled with the new six year old gelding, and “couldn’t be happier with how After Five’s first horse show (with SBS Farms) went.”
After Five joins Lipke Bartolone’s impressive string of Amateur-Owner Hunters, including 2009 Pennsylvania National Horse Show Second Year Green Hunter champion The Specialist, as well as 2008 National Horse Show Amateur-Owner Hunter 36-50 reserve champion Once and Again.
Two-time World Champion Hunter Rider, Jennifer Alfano, who rides for SBS Farms and Schoellkopf, is “just getting to know After Five,” explaining “it was only our first show with him - we really couldn’t have asked for it to go better.” Alfano spoke highly of After Five, stating “he is a pleasure to ride, even though he is still a bit green.”
As the year progresses and the partnership grows, Schoellkopf, and Alfano intend to have Lipke Bartolone move up to the 3’6” Amatuer Owner Hunters on After Five. SBS Farms will continue the winter at HITS Ocala in Ocala, Florida, where Alfano will continue to show him in the First Year Greens while Lipke Bartolone does him in the 3’3” Amateur Owner Hunters. The 3’3” Amatuer Owner Hunters is a newer division that gives new partnerships, such as Lipke Bartolone and After Five’s, the opportunity to grow without having to dive right into the 3’6”.
SBS Farms, Inc., directed by Schoellkopf, continues the proud tradition of the Saddle and Bridle Club as one of the top show stables in the northeast. Schoellkopf is also the Executive Director of the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC), which houses both The Buffalo Equestrian Center as well as SBS Farms. Built in 1922, the 160 stall facility is a historical landmark, with its unique English Tudor and gothic style architecture. BTRC has also been home to 63 Buffalo International Horse Shows, with the 64th to be held the last week of September in 2010.
