Ottawa, ON --- Equine Canada’s Recreation Division, the provincial equestrian federations and the official Horse Week spokesperson, Paralympic Gold and Silver Medalist Lauren Barwick, would like to remind everyone that Horse Week 2009, taking place May 30–June 7, 2009, is fast approaching!
If you have an event taking place, and would like to register it to be an official part of Horse Week 2009, please visit www.equinecanada.ca and click on the Horse Week logo to find out how to register your event. Please note that the deadline to register Horse Week 2009 events has been extended to May 15, 2009. All events must be registered in order to guarantee the arrival of the Horse Week package, which includes Horse Week mementos for all participants!
Horse lovers from all over the country have been registering their events on the Equine Canada website—from British Columbia to Newfoundland, great events have been created and registered, including an open house at Clovelly Stables in Logy Bay, NL. On May 30th, Clovelly Stables will be opened to the public. Everyone is invited to come and meet the riders and wonderful horses.
In Sherwood Park, AB, on May 24, the 6th Annual Horse Showcase will be held at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre. This year’s event will have something for everyone—old favorites like a parade of breeds, stick horse making, discipline demonstrations and breed alley will be joined by new activities including a heavy horse pull, amateur photo contest, kids coloring contest and a new education program geared at introducing the general public to the world of horses.
Visit the 2009 Events page to find great events in your area. Participants across the country are encouraged to bring a camera along to Horse Week events, snap pictures and send to horseweek@equinecanada.ca for inclusion in the Horse Week 2009 Photo Gallery.
