May 14, 2008
Calgary, AB --- The Calgary Stampede will honour the 400th anniversary of Quebec City during this year's Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. On Friday, July 11, visitors to Stampede Park will be treated to the sights, the sounds and the tastes of Calgary's sister city, Quebec City, to pay tribute to this historic anniversary.
“In February, nearly 100 volunteers from the Calgary Stampede traveled to Quebec City to pay tribute to Quebec City's 400th Anniversary and to join in the festivities of Carnival,” says George Brookman, Calgary Stampede president and chairman of the board. “Now we want to share our western heritage and values with our friends from Quebec City and give our Stampede visitors a small sample of the rich and vibrant culture of Quebec.”
On the final Friday of this year’s Stampede, the Park will be transformed into a miniature Quebec City festival, complete with Quebec décor at the gates, strolling French Canadian entertainment and delicious French Canadian foods at various locations.
