Deeridge Farm Takes Top Ribbons from Grand Prix Ring

to Children’s Hunters at CN Winter Equestrian Festival

March 18, 2008

Wellington, FL --- Deeridge Farm had a great week of competition at the ninth installment of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival on March 12-16. Five riders placed in a variety of divisions at the show. Deeridge Farm is based out of East Aurora, NY, and Wellington, FL.

Louis Jacobs and his top mount Kachina were impressive in the International Arena competition this week. They were one of five combinations to go clear out of 62 entries in the first round of the $20,000 1.50m Classic. The course was designed by 2008 Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios, and Jacobs was joined by some of the top riders in the world in the jump-off, including Olympic gold medalists Rodrigo Pessoa and Peter Wylde, Olympian Peter Charles of Great Britain, and eight-time Olympian Ian Millar of Canada.

Jacobs and Kachina were the first to go double clear in the jump-off. They finished with a good time that would hold up for fourth place in the class. In addition to that top ribbon, they placed fifth in the $8,000 1.45m Time First Jump-off class. On his other mount Soleil, Louis Jacobs won the $1,500 Medium Amateur-Owner Jumper Time First Jump-off class.

Charlie Jacobs and Pia took home the blue ribbon in the $2,500 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Power and Speed class.

Joan Jacobs and Go West, who won their classic last week, just missed the top spot again this week. They finished second in the $10,000 Adult Amateur 36-49 Jumper Classic.

Charlotte Jacobs and Lawando are a new combination, but they are already taking home ribbons in the jumper ring. They were fifth in the $1,500 Children’s 13 & Under Jumper class.

Melissa Jacobs is one of the top competitors in the Children’s Hunters. This week, she placed with both of her mounts. She and Dakota were first and fourth in Section B of the Children’s Hunters 14 & Under. On Jouet, she was second, third, and fourth in Section A.

Deeridge Farm will compete next at week ten of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival on March 19-23.
