Mac Cone Named CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for February

Ottawa, ON --- Jump Canada has named Mac Cone the CAVALOR 'Athlete of the Month' for February for his victory in the $60,000 Kilkenny International Cup Grand Prix CSI3* on February 17, 2008, at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida.

Cone of King City, ON, was the only rider to produce a double clean performance in the class, resulting in the victory with Ole, a 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding owned by Sara Houstoun and Larry Evoy. Riding Ole over the horse’s first ever 1.60m course, Cone posted a clean first round, which saw 56 horse-rider combinations attempt to go fault free. The duo then went on to execute a clear jump-off in a time of 47.50 seconds. Veteran American partners Beezie Madden and Authentic had one rail down in the jump-off in a time of 40.73 second for second place.

“Ole jumped four rounds that week and only rubbed one jump,” noted Cone, who is the only rider to have competed for both the U.S. and Canadian Equestrian Teams. “Ole will compete again in Wellington in the CN Open CSIO 5* in the WEF class on Thursday and in the Grand Prix on Sunday.”
