Export Preparation Training Clinic for Breeders and Sales- Halton Place 9328 15 Sideroad
Halton Hills, ON- Equine Canada Breeds & Industry Division, Export Market Development Strategy and the Canadian Jumper Development Series will be hosting an Export Preparation Training Clinic on February 29th to March 1st, 2008.
The two day course will be held at Halton Place, a hunter/jumper tournament facility in Halton Hills, Ontario. The clinic will be beneficial for Canadian breeders, sales facilities and individuals interested in learning more about exporting Canadian bred and produced horses. The clinic will feature industry speakers who will discuss topics relevant to Canadian producers when implementing an export strategy.
Day One, “Breeding Canadian Horses for Domestic and International Markets,” will highlight specific issues for breeders, including type, quality, training, bloodlines and turnout requirements for Canadian bred and produced horses when positioned to target export markets. Participants will also learn about when to buy and when to sell, what potential buyers are looking for and the benefits of registering Canadian bred and produced horses with Canadian breed registries.
Day Two, “Sales and Branding in an International Climate,” will target topics such as International trade negotiations and logistics of sale, the current domestic and international market climate, sales and branding of Canadian bred and produced horses and breed/sales operations, and the value of the customer experience in the sales cycle. Participants will learn how to build a buyer list, how to negotiate a sale and how to facilitate shipping to foreign countries once the sale is complete.

Colt Starting Clinic: June 6-9, 2008 (9 am - 3 pm) Cost: $600 This clinic is for unstarted young horses, or an older horse that needs to be restarted. The first two days of the clinic will center on exercises to get your horses’ respect on the ground and desensitize him to behaviors and things that he will encounter during the first saddling and ride. During the next two days, we will use these exercises to saddle and ride! This is six-hour, four-day clinic. We will take frequent breaks as we do not want to push a young horse too fast too soon. I have found this extended clinic session really is very successful and builds the most broke colts, and I feel it is what sets my colts apart. Horsemanship Clinics: June 6-8, 2008 (5 pm - 8 pm) Cost: $350 Foundation Horsemanship This clinic is designed for beginners - horses or handlers. It is great for horses that are missing bricks in their foundation, or new horse owners. Horsemanship I This riding clinic is for horses that are broke to ride safely under control in a group setting. Rocky Mountain Challenge - 2008 Canadian Nationals- Red Deer River Ranches
Sundre, AB- Four days of equine long-distance competition showcasing the sports of competitive trail, endurance and ride n' tie will take place July 31 – August 4, 2008. Teams and individuals will tackle 10-100 miles of trail in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains to challenge for the title of Canadian Champion. Riders from Saudi Arabia and Australia have expressed interest in participating in this National and International competition. An additional focus of the event is the 100-mile FEI competition, which will offer competitors an opportunity to qualify for the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. A unique aspect of this event is that all levels of riders are welcomed and encouraged to challenge themselves in what will be a talented field. The organizing committee extends a warm welcome to competitors, spectators and particularly volunteers - all important aspects in putting on an event of this magnitude.
